The 2003 NEOBA Tournament Series - Better Than Ever
The North Eastern Ontario Bass Association is a non-profit tournament organization dedicated to meeting the needs of tournament anglers in Central and Northeastern Ontario. Being a non-profit organization with strong corporate support, NEOBA is able to offer a tournament series with greater than 100% paybacks. This year, Mercury Marine and Princecraft boats will be the major sponsors of the live-release tournament series. The lakes selected this year offer unbelievable fishing opportunities, as well as some of the most scenic and pristine shorelines Ontario has to offer. If you enjoy the great outdoors as much as you appreciate a successful fishing day, you should give these tournaments a try.
The bass tournament series will have 7 qualifying events leading up to the Classic final. The entry fee for each event will be $225, this includes $25 for big fish awards. Each qualifier will payback 85% of entry fees in cash, a higher percentage than ever before, plus sponsored prizes. The remaining 15% of entry fees is directed towards the Classic payback. This year’s Classic Prize package will be a Princecraft SP 169 DLX boat, trailer and 75 HP Mercury engine for first place, with cash prizes allotted down to 15th place. The amount of the cash prizes will be determined by the amount of money generated from the qualifying tournaments, generally $12,000.00 or more.
To qualify for the Classic an angler must fish a minimum of 4 qualifying tournaments and be in the top 25 in the point standings. Anglers accumulate points based on their results during the qualifying tournaments, 25 points is awarded for 1st place and 1 point is given for 25th. The angler’s top 4 tournaments are used to qualify for the Classic. Listed dates and locations for 2003.
THE CLASSIC New Liskeard: Lake Temiskaming September 27th and 28
Also new this year, for anglers looking to take competitive bass fishing to another level, NEOBA has formed an affiliation with the Canadian Fishing Tour (CFT). The CFT, formerly known as The Chevy/Mercury Bass Tour, is Canada’s most prestigious bass tournament series. The affiliation of these two tournament organizations, is the first step to unifying competitive bass fishing in Canada. The affiliation will allow NEOBA members to compete in the CFT tournament held in North Bay, July 26-27 without having to buy another CFT membership.
